‘Due to too much freshly-fallen snow, the matches of the 19th round are postponed to the spring part of the season.’ The message of the competition management meant that we could close the gate of the Ljudski Vrt and that Sunday’s match against Aluminij would not take place.
Before the information as announced, the team had gathered for the scheduled Saturday’s morning practice, which was cancelled after the announcement of the end of the competition in the Slovenian First Football League. We’re therefore leaving for the winter break as the autumn champions and with three points of advantage.
In the dressing room, Darko Milaniè presented the players with a plan of winter preparations instead of a plan for the duel with Aluminij, and congratulated them for exceptional achievements in recent months: ‘We were ready for the match, but the decision is such that the autumn is concluded, and we accept it. We presented a good image, had a high morale despite numerous matches, and played outstandingly, so Sunday’s match would probably follow a similar scenario. By the cancellation, we realised the objective to be the first. The year 2017 has been excellent in several respects. I am proud of the work done; the lads were fantastic, and they have the well-deserved holidays since today.’
We’re to continue the fight for the title of the champion in February; the team will gather for the start of preparations will take place on 9 January.
