In recent days, we’ve been meeting the Sheriff footballers in the hotel, while on Monday, we also met them on the pitch. In the tie of the teams that before December successfully played in the European cups, the Champions League participants were more successful in the Turkish preparatory base.

‘After that mediocre performance against Sigma, we presented ourselves in a completely different light. We prepared for the match correctly, played 90 minutes at a high rhythm, and then anticipated our good moments near the end of the match. We must not forget that we were dealing with a high-quality opponent, and after such a test, I must emphasise that I’m content. We successfully prevented the competitor’s attacks, and also showed very good cooperation in attacks in the final half an hour,’ the coach described the tie with the best Moldovan team’s foreign legion.

Recent days have also brought about an improvement in the health situation. After the interim match, Milec was able to play again, while Rajčević, Ivković, and Ahmedi are already awaiting the return to the competition rhythm.
‘Milec needs minutes, and I hope that he will be able to continue without complications. We’ll also be able to count on the rest of the players, which brings an additional impetus before the final part. As I have mentioned, Maribor will be very strong in its full composition. We’re on the right track and now we need to use the remaining days in Turkey to consolidate today’s approach. On that basis, we’ll be able to demonstrate our qualities.’

Tuesday activities will continue with two training sessions. Two more trials have been scheduled before the return. On Thursday, Oleksandriya will be on the opposite side, and on Saturday, Zenit will be our greatest challenge to date.
