"It is a pity about the two goals we received, otherwise we could have assessed our playing as flawless, since the first half was very demanding due to the heat haze and a difficult football pitch. Despite that, our play was under control and we got the first opportunities to score even before we were in the lead. Once we had used the first opportunity, we guided the match into the desired direction. We controlled the events well and scored five times in total. I can only say how satisfied I am after what the team showed," the coach assessed a pleasant Sunday afternoon in Kidričevo.
Five goals in the host match against NK Rudar and five goals in the host match against NK Aluminij. Notwithstanding the intermediary European challenges, the team has returned from both championship host matches in grand style.
"We showed a serious attitude, great play and efficiency. This makes us happy and brings additional energy and confidence ahead of the new challenges. We are playing in a mature and smart way. It was important to follow the plan to prevent NK Aluminij from counterattacking, since they do that well with their persistence and in cooperation with Kidrič as the central midfielder. However, our quality enabled us to achieve our purpose in this regard as well."
With three scores, Jasmin Mešanović contributed the most to winning the match.
"He has been training very well the whole time and announces a candidacy for several minutes. These decisions regarding who to leave out at the match are sometimes very difficult. The boys get clear messages and their task is to be ready and wait for their opportunity. This was exactly the case with Jasmin. On Thursday, at the match against FC Chikhura Sachkhere, he entered the play well when our opponent was already tired due to our tempo. I told him not to go for fast passes, but to attempt to conquer the pitch on his own and he did that brilliantly. This was a difficult football pitch and he performed well on it."
We also saw the debut play of Denis Klinar who, after just two training matches with the team, appeared as if he had been playing at Ljudski vrt for much longer.
"He played very well. I made a change because he asked for a change himself. He is not in the competitive rhythm yet, but he played those 70 minutes the right way. We will endeavour to keep him on a good level and raise his readiness to endure the entire match."
In the next match, strength and knowledge will be of particular importance. The play on Thursday with FC Glasgow Rangers, at Ibrox. A fight for a play-off.
"We have enough time to show the most important matters to the boys and prepare ourselves well. We have played seven matches in a short period of time, but we have a great selection of players and the knowledge to respond well. I have watched a match against Aberdeen – it is typical Scottish football, solid, quality and with great tempo. It is bound to be interesting," said Darko Milanič who is starting preparations next week for the match against FC Glasgow Rangers.
